If you have ever lost touch with old school friends you may find yourself wanting to make contact again. Certain friendships are built to last and this is often the case with teens. Some teens find that certain school friends are worth maintaining contact with and there are a few ways to catch up with these individuals and keep the friendship going strong.

Hang Out At the Same Places

One way you can get together with old friends from your school is to go to the same places that they go to. Football games, stores and teen dance clubs are all places where you might run into your old friends. If you still go to school together you probably know where everyone goes on the weekends. If you are able to go there too you may find that your relationships with your old school friends start up again.

Sports Teams

If you are athletic and your former friends are too, joining school sports teams is a great way to catch up with the old friends. Playing sports together builds team spirit and camaraderie which is a great way to share a common activity and get to know each other again. This doesn’t mean that you should join a sport which you do not like just so you can see your old friend. However, if you like sports, wish to join a team and your former friend is on that team, then playing the team sport is a great way to get to know them again.

Take Part in School Clubs

There are often a lot of school clubs in which teens participate. Depending on your interests and your former friend’s interests, you may just find a club at school is a good way to get to know your friend again. This option, just like in the case of joining a sports team, is a great way to get involved with school activities and regain a friendship with your old friends. Sharing a common interest such as a club activity will help you to have something in common and something about which to talk.

Take It Slow

No matter what way you go about catching up with old friends from school, it is important that you take it slow. Try not to come on too forcefully as this may work against you by having your old friend think you are trying too hard to regain a friendship with them. Take baby steps by starting with conversation. Then, maybe ask them if they want to hang out sometime. Take it slow and if it’s meant to be, you and your former friend will be sharing stories and laughing at jokes just like you used to.
